Mark the log 10" & 14"
from the
end & cut out 4" 1 3/4" deep. |

Mark the end of the log 4" from
the flat
portion and cut it 1 1/2" deep |

Use a hammer to knock out the slices
in
the 4" wide area and use a chisel
or saw to remove the excess
wood
from the notch. |

Have a person hold a 2x4 against the end
of the log and cut along the
circumference
of the round part of the log 1.5" deep. Then
knock off
the piece to complete the cut. |
